Yoga teacher. Explorer-at-heart. Dog-lover. Wellness-warrior
Born in the United Kingdom, I moved to the USA in 1996 for postdoctoral studies in organic chemistry. Living in Princeton, NJ I was persuaded onto a yoga mat by a room-mate - my curiosity piqued about how yoga could complement the activities that I loved.
The openness, focus and clarity that the practice provides and the calmness and stillness it creates are elements that I continue to explore in my practice and teaching.
I believe that our yoga practice can be a time for self care - an opportunity to balance the desire for action and movement with much needed time to slow down and invite our busy minds to quiet. My teaching places an emphasis on the qualities of curiosity and presence in the physical practice, with a clarity of instruction to build a proper foundation of alignment for “every” body. My goal is to empower students to dive deeper into their own practice and discover the long term benefits of mindful movement and breath awareness.
A forever student, I received my 200h certification from Verge Yoga (PA) in 2009 and completed a 300h training at The Yoga Garden (PA). I am especially passionate about Yin Yoga and have completed trainings with Corinna Benner and Sally Miller. Other studies include insightful perspectives on teaching and the practice, with Sue Elkind and Naime Jezzeny at Dig Yoga NJ.
Passions
Yoga teacher. Explorer-at-heart. Dog-lover. Wellness-warrior
On finishing high school I embarked on a month long adventure across Europe, which set the stage for a life-time love of travel. Having explored the cities and backroads of France, Italy and beyond, some of my favorite trips include:
- Hiking (and biking) but NOT climbing the Cuilin hills of The Isle of Skye.
- Swimming, snorkeling and kayaking the bioluminescent waters of Puerto Rico
- Roaming the majesty of Rocky Mountain National Park.
- Honeymoon in North and West Iceland - waterfalls, sulfurous springs and nature baths near Akureyri, and then glaciers and lighthouses at Snaefellsjokull national park.
Passionate about mountains and oceans alike, I am lucky to share this travel bug with my husband David and family ... from walking rain-swept tundras in Iceland to chilling poolside with iguanas in Puerto Rico
Closer to home, you will find me hiking the trails at Rolling Hill park with my dog Chetzel, or swimming in any open body of water I can find - river, lake or ocean.
Feeding my body and my family with healthy tasty and nutritious food has always been a priority. Following a primarily plant-based diet, I enjoy creating delicious dishes from scratch - check out my blog for the occasional recipe and inspiration.
